3rd grade teacher, Alison Wilkinson along with 5th grade teacher, Kathy Struck, have been heading up our DCE Garden Club for our kids for 2 years in a row now! Learners sign up for Trail Days club according to their passion. Each Friday morning the club groups meet for one hour. The Garden Club is comprised of eager learners ready to work in our outdoor learning center, the Trailblazers Discovery Center! They help plant, weed, water, harvest, and maintain our grade level garden beds! They have created 2 seed books to organize our seeds for classes. They also bring items to be composted from home such as coffee grounds, egg shells, and lawn clippings, and help with the turning of the compost! Mrs. Wilkinson and Mrs. Struck have lined up experts in the field to talk to the Garden Club about composting and general garden care. The educators go above and beyond in making learning fun and engaging outdoors!
