Sean Splawski is a dedicated, motivated and passionate teacher. In fact, his name is synonymous with wonderment. There is never a dull moment when you step into Mr. Splawski’s K-5 STEAM Lab. Whether he is harvesting hundreds of sweet potatoes and making everything from sweet potato chips to sweet potato ice cream during a science lesson, taking his students outside for an environmental science lesson, or integrating computer science into a mathematics lesson, you can rest assured that students are engaged, acquiring new knowledge, but best of all, having fun while learning. It goes without saying that students enjoy going to Mr. Splawski’s STEAM Lab and it is one of their favorite classes.

During these times of the Covid-19 pandemic, Mr. Splawski refuses to let that slow the learning process of his students. He consistently joins Zoom classes with other teachers or he is conducting his own Zoom classes demonstrating science experiments for his students to enjoy. It doesn’t stop there! Mr. Splawski can be seen in Mableton Elementary’s garden during the day or at dawn as he works tirelessly to prepare his garden/outdoor classroom in preparation for when schools are reopened and he can once again bring joy, enthusiasm and the love of learning to his students’ lives.
