Congratulations to Mr. Eunynx Jacques! Our Instructional Coaches in Texas have been incredibly impressed with your work and have named you our Texas Teacher of the Year!
Deep in the heart of Texas, in Dallas ISD, the team at Henry B Gonzalez is dedicated to personalized learning, an educational approach focused on customizing learning for each student based on their unique skills, abilities, preferences, background, and experiences. Their principal, Rey Cervantes, partnered with Out Teach in 2018 in an effort to use the outdoors to help teachers create and harness more individualized experiences for students, while supporting personalized learning and Social & Emotional Learning objectives.
During the pandemic, Kindergarten-teacher-extraordinaire, Mr. Eunynx Jacques, embraced all of the benefits of outdoor learning for his young students, bringing them outside every day to give them time to explore and learn in a safe environment. In addition to leading Out Teach lessons, Mr. Jacques improvised and improved upon lessons so that they met the needs of his young learners, building in cross-curricular objectives and making the learning experience more meaningful and authentic. For example, during a lesson on counting to 20, he embedded additional learning opportunities by having students identify the items they were counting as either living or nonliving things.
By incorporating science into every lesson, not only does Mr. Jacques get the most out of his outdoor space, he cultivates a love of learning and STEM early in life. And because cross-curricular and project-based lessons boost higher-level critical thinking, Mr. Jacques is also helping children build important skills that will help them excel in school and in life. We applaud Mr. Jacques for ensuring his students have deep and meaningful learning experiences and giving kindergarteners ample opportunities to get hands-on with cross-curricular subjects, supporting the goals of Henry B. Gonzalez Elementary School and ensuring that he is creating lifelong learners.
Please join us in thanking Mr. Jacques for bringing learning to life for all of the many students he’s inspired!
